White Swan Indian Summer Celebration Logo

Picture
This design was drawn by John Moses, Sr.  The committee has been using it for the 14 years I have been involved and most likely longer than that.  I would like to honor John with a jacket with this logo on the back.  I am going to ask him to write up how this design came into existence and a brief biography on himself as the artist and put it in the program.  We have used this logo to promote our pow wow on the flyers, crowns, championship jackets and now on this webpage.  It is a beautiful depiction of our traditons and I hope it carries on for many years as a representation of White Swan Indian Summer Celebration.

Honor the Veterans

Picture
We honor the Veterans on Sunday afternoon after the Grand Entry.  Usually we allow time for them to introduce themselves and their branch of service and any stories they wish to share.  They also lead in the Grand Entry.  After the introductions are complete, the committee presents gifts to the Veterans.  This year am planning a Veterans Dance Special and have a sponsor for three veterans jackets in memory of the late Richard Sohappy.  These jackets will be a different color than the regular championship jackets and we will present first, second and third place.  I hope to find sponsors for consolation prizes for all participants who do not place as well.

Honor the Elders

Picture
We honor the Elders on Saturday afternoon and I plan on having two sets of judges during the contest for Golden Age Men and Golden Age Women.  One set of judges will be selecting contestants for the point system judging and the other set will hand pick three contestants once the first set of judges have made their selections.  We will present a blanket with the WSISC logo on it to the first place winner and have consolation prizes for the second and third.
